Goals and Plans

One of the most important things in a person’s life is the ability of them to be able to create goals and set standards for how they are going to accomplish them. I have many ambitions and much potential in my life spiritually, personally, educationally, and in the career that I wish to expound upon. I have been blessed to be able to live in this country, the United States, where I can have these aspirations and achieve whatever I set out to do. These things are important to me; I will work as hard as I can to make sure I arrive at my destination.
Because I live in this country, I can express my faith in any way that I want. I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and I plan on always keeping my testimony burning strongly. My goals for my spiritual growth are as follows: I want to be an active member of the church my entire life and fulfill my callings so that I may bless my own life as well as the lives of others. I want to teach the youth and help others come to know the truth about the gospel as I have come to know it. I have been through a lot in my life, even though I am not very old, but I do know that it is extremely important to stay as close as I can to the gospel’s teachings. I will do this by always doing the little things: I will read the scriptures daily, pray every morning and night and at meals, serve others as often as I can, and always strive to have a good attitude about things, even when it is not easy. I must always remember that I live a great life, and I have so much to be thankful for.
My goals for my personal life are just as important to me as anything else. I wish to get married in the temple, and I am already well on my way to doing that. I am engaged to be married in the Newport Beach Temple to my love. We will be sealed for time and all eternity. I have a lot to do to prepare; I must understand what it takes to be married so I can prepare myself in any way possible. I am taking a Preparation for Marriage class this semester, and I am learning how to deal with other people, especially with the ones we hold closest to our hearts.
Besides getting married, I want to graduate from a university with at least a Bachelor’s degree. I would prefer going to BYU, but I know that going to BYU-Idaho is a special experience as well. I will apply for BYU’s winter 2012 semester and see if I have the opportunity to go down there for school. I am not exactly sure what I want to major in, but I think I want to be a teacher, probably in history. I want to be able to provide for my family if something happens to my husband.
As a career, I have previously discussed that I want to be a teacher. For now, that is what I am going to set my goal on, but I know that that could change throughout my college experience when I am deciding for certain what I want to do. I love to teach others about things and I could see myself teaching any type of age group. I know I need to work hard in school before I can become a teacher, but I have a strong work ethic and I get things done.
I know that as I work as hard as I can to achieve these goals, the Spirit will guide me in the things I need to do and know. I know that I have a Father in Heaven who is watching out for me; I need to rely on Him to help me get things done so that I can live the life that I want to have.
